State of South Carolina

The South Carolina Building Codes Council has adopted the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) and the 2021 editions of the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Fire Code (IFC), International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), and International Plumbing Code (IPC). These codes, as amended by the Council, have an effective date of January 1, 2023 and are enforceable as the statewide minimum codes for construction.
