ROSSLYN, Va.—TheNational Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published ANSIC136.42-2019 American National Standard for Roadway and Area LightingEquipment—Solid State Lighting Retrofit Kits.
This Standard defines themechanical and electrical requirements for transforming an installed high-intensitydischarge (HID) roadway and area luminaire to a solid-state roadway and arealuminaire. This Standard is limited to non-screwbase retrofit kits only.
“This document is needed to Standardize the requirements for lighting retrofitkits used to convert existing HID outdoor luminaires to an LED light source,”said Kevin Fitzmaurice, Principal Engineer, Lighting and Smart Services,Georgia Power and Chair of ANSI Section for Roadway and Area Lighting.
Users of this Standard includebut are not limited to outdoor lighting manufactures, public utilities, andmunicipalities.
