ROSSLYN, Va.—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published NEMA XR 25-2019 Computed Tomography Dose Check. This revised Standard specifies an equipment feature for CT scanners to produce dose-related notification and alert messages to inform operators prior to scanning if the estimated dose would exceed the preset levels.
"This revision of XR 25 adds a modification to the 'dose alert' feature, permitting it to trigger only once for protocols deemed interventional by the user or manufacturer," said Kirsten Boedeker, CT Workgroup Co-Chair, Senior Manager of Medical Physics at Canon Medical Systems Corporation. "This Standard provides clear pathways for manufacturers to start implementing this modification."
NEMA XR 25-2019 is available in hard copy for $69 and as an electronic download at no cost on the NEMA website.
