The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) is pleased to announce the publication of a new white paper on the role of Distribution Automation in the energy transition. Developed by NEMA’s Distribution Automation Section, this white paper establishes how the energy transition will require continued investment in electrical grid infrastructure. Distribution Automation (DA) solutions help make electric utility infrastructure smarter, more dynamic, resilient, and secure. DA can also offer a number of business operations advantages to utilities.
Distribution Automation in the Energy Transition, NEMA US 800024 2022, has been developed to provide an overview of the drivers for the energy transition and how Distribution Automation has provided benefits to utilities across North America.
“Distribution Automation is the catalyst to the energy transition drivers. The future power grid will be more resilient, self-healing, distributed, safer, smarter and secure," said Pat Avery, Vice President of Power Grid Automation, G&W Electric
In addition to the new white paper, NEMA offers a range of complementary technical resources for Distribution Automation, including white papers on resilient distribution systems and electric utility communications networks. These resources provide information on technologies through which a utility can collect, automate, analyze, and optimize data to improve the operational efficiency of its distribution power system.
