Arlington, Va. — The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) have formally agreed to collaborate in the areas of connected and automated vehicles and associated infrastructure. Identified areas of collaboration include standards activities for roadside infrastructure, deployment guidelines of prioritized applications for infrastructure operators, and cooperation on advocacy and regulatory affairs in North America.
“The 5GAA is a global, cross-industry organization of companies from the automotive, technology, and telecommunications industries working together to develop end-to-end solutions for future mobility and transportation services, “said NEMA Senior Industry Director for Transportation Systems Division Steve Griffith. “Their vision of connected mobility for people, vehicles, and transportation infrastructure and vehicles sharing information to make transportation safer, greener, and more enjoyable will have a huge impact on road safety.”
“NEMA is a recognized Standards Developing Organization with a proven track record of developing standards and specifications for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and connected vehicle infrastructure,” echoed Maxime Flament, 5GAA’s Chief Technology Officer.
“5GAA is welcoming the NEMA TS 10 Standard, which focuses on applications that will enable ITS and connected vehicle deployment. By working together, NEMA and 5GAA can advance the deployment and uptake of life-saving transportation technologies.”
