​​Today the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) welcomed announcements by U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) of compromises reached to expedite favorable consideration in Congress of the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA).​

"We applaud all parties for their strenuous and successful efforts to find common ground and advance USMCA," said NEMA President and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff. "We look forward to favorable consideration and approval by the U.S Congress as soon as possible."

USMCA, as agreed and signed in November 2018, builds on and is intended to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement. USCMA includes many provisions that will advance North American cooperation and boost the region's global competitiveness. Once submitted to Congress under exclusive authority, legislation to implement USMCA is expected to move rapidly since amendments are not allowed.
