Buy America(n) Impacts on the IIJA
One of the major questions facing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) implementation is the impact of Buy America and Buy American provisions, which dictate requirements for American-made content, by funding agency. These provisions will influence the spending of nearly $450 billion in electroindustry investments under the IIJA.
The Biden Administration’s two main goals are to ensure that IIJA funding creates more resilient and equitable domestic supply chains and creates high-paying American jobs. The Buy America(n) provisions are the primary tools they will use to promote those goals.
NEMA recognizes the importance of these issues for NEMA members and the Administration. NEMA also understands the level of effort and complexity of navigating the Buy America(n) provisions.
This page contains NEMA-developed resources and other information to help companies better understand, navigate and benefit from the Buy America(n) provisions. Additional guidance is currently being developed by federal agencies, this page will be kept updated with new guidance and resources.
NEMA has established a working group to steer the electroindustry’s engagement on Buy American and Buy America policy. Contact Madeleine.Bugel@nema.org to join the working group or for more information.
