ROSSLYN, Va.—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published ANSI/NEMA SC 1-2019 American National Standard for Supplier Credentialing in Healthcare, a new Standard for healthcare providers and their suppliers that helps identify the credentials of supplier representatives visiting healthcare facilities.
SC 1 has been developed by healthcare professionals to describe the specialized requirements for supplier credentialing in the healthcare environment and guide what employers and individuals should meet to support healthcare providers via:
• Criminal Background Checks (including sanction list checks)
• Medical Testing/Vaccinations
• Drug Screens
• Applicable Training
"The development of American National Standard for Supplier Credentialing in Healthcare is an important step towards the eventual goal of interoperability, which is critical to achieving the accuracy, efficiencies, and elimination of waste in the credentialing process," said Rhett Suhre, chair of the ANSI/NEMA Canvas Group. "We are confident that we will see the same advancements in supplier credentialing that we have seen in other industries."
ANSI/NEMA SC 1-2019 is available for $84 in hard copy and electronic download on the NEMA website.
