Second Quarter 2020 HID Lamp Indexes Continue to Decline
NEMA’s shipment index for high intensity discharge (HID) lamps posted a year-over-year decline in shipments in 2Q 2020 compared to 2Q 2019 with metal halide posting a 54.3 percent decline, sodium vapor a 25.8 percent decline and mercury vapor a 22.7 percent decline. Quarter-over-quarter shipments also declined with metal halide decreasing 38.1 percent, sodium vapor decreasing 13.5 percent and mercury showing little change decreasing just 0.1 percent in 2Q 2020 compared to 1Q 2020.
Sodium vapor lamps accounted for 50.0 percent of the HID market in 2Q 2020, while metal halide and mercury vapor accounted for 44.6 percent and 5.4 percent, respectively.
