Third Quarter 2021 HID Lamp Indexes Continue to Decline
NEMA’s shipment index for high intensity discharge (HID) lamps posted a year-over-year decline in shipments in 3Q 2021 compared to 3Q 2020 with metal halide posting a 7.3 percent decline, sodium vapor a 20.3 percent decline and mercury vapor a 49.2 percent decline. Quarter-over-quarter shipments also declined with metal halide decreasing 25.7 percent. Sodium vapor and mercury vapor shipments declined 14.1 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively.
Metal halide lamps shipments accounted for 52.1 percent of the HID market in 3Q 2021, while sodium halide and mercury vapor shipments accounted for 45.4 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively.
