Code Alert: Nebraska, 14 April 2010

On April 13, 2010, the Governor of Nebraska signed LB 411 which mandates the adoption of the 2008 National Electrical Code (NEC) with an Effective date of July 12, 2010. This adoption will enhance electrical & fire safety with the expansion of AFCI 210.12(b) and the added child safety provision of Tamper Resistant Receptacles 406.11. The only amendment of the 2008 NEC in Nebraska is Article 430.102(b).

The State of Nebraska is serving as a leader in the advancement of fire and electrical safety to ensure the citizens in their state have the same protection from electrical hazards as the rest of the country.
