State of Oregon

The State of Oregon Building Codes Division has announced the adoption of the 2017 Oregon Electrical Specialty Code (OESC) and the Oregon Residential Specialty Code (ORSC) with an effective date of October 1, 2017.  The 2017 OESC is based on the 2017 edition of the National Electrical Code with Oregon amendments.  The 2017 ORSC is based on the 2015 edition of the International Residential Code with Oregon amendments.

The 2017 ORSC only (not the 2017 OESC) has a 3 month phase-in period from October 1, 2017 till December 31, 2017 during which time plans submitted for a building permit may comply with either the 2014 ORSC or the 2017 ORSC.  As of January 1, 2018, all plans submitted for permit must comply with 2017 ORSC.
