‚ÄčState of Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, Division of Fire Prevention, has published a code adoption Rulemaking Hearing Rule concerning changes to Chapter 0780-02-23 related to One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Townhouses. The amended rule adopts the 2018 edition of the International Residential Code (IRC) and 2018 edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), both with state amendments.

The complete rulemaking can be reviewed HERE. The effective date of this rule change and the updated codes will be July 16, 2020 and applies to all jurisdictions in the state of Tennessee excluding those jurisdictions exempted by home rule. A list of those exempted jurisdictions can be reviewed HERE.
