29 January Maryland

State of Maryland

The State of Maryland has adopted the 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC). The promulgation of the NEC was through the State Police/Fire Marshall's office and the Maryland State Fire Prevention Commission. The NEC as referenced in the adoption of Fire Code, NFPA 1 as of January 1, 2016 is for all State Buildings and by acceptance through local County ordinances as the installation standard of electrical wiring and systems. Maryland law allows Cities and Counties to adopt other editions of the NEC as they choose.
