26 June Minnesota

State of Minnesota

The Minnesota Board of Electricity has adopted the 2014 National Electrical Code which will apply to all jobs when the permit is filed on or after July 1, 2014. Electrical license examinations taken after July 1, 2014, will be based on the requirements of the 2014 NEC.

Provisions of the 2011 National Electrical Code will apply where the electrical work associated with the project has started and the permit is filed before July 1, 2014.

The State of Minnesota should be applauded for their commitment to Fire & Electrical safety for all citizens in the state. This adoption will ensure that all buildings in the state will have the most current electrical safety codes available in today’s built environment.
