18 June Wisconsin

State of Wisconsin

The Department of Safety and Professional Services is moving forward in its effort to update Chapter SPS 316, the Wisconsin Electrical Code, by adopting the 2011 edition of the NFPA National Electrical Code® (NEC). The hearing is scheduled for August 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Madison.

I strongly urge the electrical industry to show their support for these actions by attending this hearing and encourage Wisconsin to continue their commitment to electrical safety by adopting 2011 NEC.

For those who cannot attend the hearing, comments may be submitted to James Quast, Program Manager, Department of Safety and Professional Services, Division of Policy Development, 1400 East Washington Avenue, Room 151, P.O. Box 8935, Madison, WI 53708-8935, or by email to jim.quast@wisconsin.gov. Comments must be received on or before July 5, 2013 to be included in the record of rule-making proceedings.

The adoption of the 2011 NEC will provide a great benefit by increasing the electrical safety in all buildings constructed in the state. This action will continue to keep Wisconsin in the forefront of electrical safety to ensure the wellbeing of all citizens in the state.
