State of Ohio

On December 4, 2015, Board of Building Standards adopted amendments to the Ohio Building Code, Ohio Plumbing Code, Ohio Mechanical Code, and the Residential Code of Ohio effective January 1, 2016.

The Board initiated the r​ule change process in February 2015 and the rules have been available in draft form on the Board's website.  The final adopted rules with detailed summaries can be found at the following links:

This rule package included updating to the 2014 NEC for the Residential Code of Ohio. 

This action increases fire & electrical safety in One- two and, three family dwellings in Ohio. The Ohio Board of Building Standards should be applauded for their hard work and dedication to electrical safety for all citizens of Ohio.
