The State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) met on July 24, 2014. It will recommend the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Board adopt the 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC). It also considered and will recommend adoption of the optional 2012 International Existing Building Code (IEBC) with Georgia Amendments and the optional 2012 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) with Georgia Amendments. In addition, the SCAC considered and will recommend adoption of the Georgia Amendments to the following State Minimum Standard Codes: the 2012 International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (IRC), Georgia Prescriptive Deck Details (2014 Edition), 2012 International Building Code (IBC), 2012 International Mechanical Code (IMC), 2012 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and 2012 International Plumbing Code (IPC).

The Notice of Intention to Adopt, Synopsis, and proposed Georgia Amendments are available for review on the Georgia Department of Community Affairs website.​

The proposed new Code Editions and proposed Georgia Amendments will be presented to the Department of Community Affairs Board at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA), 131 Hutchison Island Rd., Savannah, Georgia 31421. If approved, the proposed new Code Editions and Georgia Amendments will become effective January 1, 2015.
