The Georgia State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) will meet on November 10, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia to form a Task Force to review and recommend adoption of the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC) and a Task Force to review and recommend adoption of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).  The official meeting agenda can be viewed HERE.  The first meeting of the 2017 NEC Task Force will be held on December 8, 2016 at the Department of Community Affairs, 60 Executive Park South, Room 302, Atlanta, GA 30329.  The anticipated effective date of the 2017 NEC is January 1, 2018. The first meeting of the 2015 IECC Task Force is TBD.

The SCAC has also recommended that the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Board adopt the 2012 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC), with 2014 Georgia Amendments, as a mandatory statewide code.  The 2012 ISPSC, with 2014 Georgia Amendments, is currently adopted as a permissive statewide code.  The recommendation will be presented to the DCA Board on November 16, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia.  If approved by the Board, the effective date of the new mandatory code will be January 1, 2017.  The notice of intent and synopsis of the proposed code update can be viewed HERE.
