1 May Virginia

State of Virginia

The final regulations for the 2015 Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), 2015 Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code (SFPC), 2015 Virginia Amusement Device Regulations (VADR), and the 2015 Virginia Industrialized Building Safety Regulations (IBSR) have been published in the Virginia Register. The final regulations can be reviewed HERE.

The USBC, VADR, and IBSR regulations have a 30-day comment period and an effective date of September 4, 2018. The SFPC regulations have a 60-day comment period and an effective date of October 16, 2018.

Upon closure of the comment periods, if petitions are filed by 25 or more persons regarding a change to a regulation made between the proposed and final phase, the final regulation will be suspended. This suspension will be published in the Virginia Register which opens an additional 30-day comment period. Upon closure of that 30-day comment period, the Board will take action on the suspended regulation(s). The Board may retain the regulations in their current form or make amendments based on the petitions received.

The 2015 Virginia Codes are based on the 2015 I-Codes and include adoption of the 2014 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70-14).
