NEMA’s shipment index for high intensity discharge (HID)
lamps posted a year-over-year decline in shipments in 4Q 2019 compared to 4Q
2018 with metal halide posting an 22.3 percent decline, sodium vapor a 12
percent decline and mercury vapor a 26.3 percent decline. Quarter-over-quarter shipments
also declined with metal halide decreasing 7.2 percent, sodium vapor decreasing
15.3 percent and mercury decreasing 23.8 percent in 4Q 2019 compared to 3Q 2019.
Metal halide lamps accounted for 58.6 percent of the HID
market in 4Q 2019, while sodium vapor and mercury vapor accounted for 38
percent and 3.4 percent, respectively.
