A-line Lamp Shipments Decrease in Fourth Quarter 2017


LED, halogen, CFL, and incandescent A-line lamps all posted decreased shipments in 4Q 2017 compared to the previous quarter and year. LED A-line lamp shipments decreased 17.6 percent in 4Q 2017 compared to 3Q 2017 and decreased year-over-year by 10.2 percent compared to 4Q 2016. Halogen posted a quarter-to-quarter decrease in 4Q 2017 compared to 3Q 2017 of 6.5 percent and year-over-year decrease of 31.0 percent. CFL and incandescent lamps posted a quarter-to-quarter decrease of 20.7 and 28.4 percent respectively. Year-over-year CFL and incandescent lamp shipments decreased by 35.4 percent and 40.5 percent respectively.

Halogen A-line lamps account for 47.8 percent of the consumer lamp market, followed by LED A-line lamps which account for 36.1 percent. CFLs and incandescent split the remaining 4Q 2017 consumer lamp market accounting for 8.4 and 7.8 percent respectively. Incandescent A-line lamps largely consist of 15W and 25W lamps.
