Chris Curtis Accepts Bernard H. Falk Award

Mr. Curtis, currently a senior advisor at Schneider Electric, a NEMA member company, was a member of the NEMA Board of Governors (BOG) from 2008 to 2014 and chaired the board from 2014-2015.

In making the announcement, NEMA President and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff described his colleague as one who “exemplifies honor, commitment, dedication, great character, and love of family, and is a steadfast supporter of the electroindustry.”

Throughout a long career with Schneider Electric, including president of Schneider Electric USA, Mr. Curtis honed a reputation as a forward thinker. He held numerous positions in the U.S. and Canada, ranging from sales, marketing, and distribution to developing and implementing business strategies for products and services sold to original equipment manufacturers.

Currently the CEO of the Wencor Group, he also presides over the Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA) as chairman and served as chairman of the board at Munters AB. During his tenure on the American Heart Association Board of Directors, he co-chaired the largest heart fundraising effort in the U.S.

According to Michael W. Pessina, co-chief executive officer and president of Lutron Electronics Company, Inc., and incoming chairman of the NEMA BOG, Mr. Curtis demonstrates a unique leadership style in the industry, at NEMA, and with IDEA.

“Chris not only has the ability to understand strategy, he never forgets about the different parties and influencers involved and makes sure we get the best solution for everyone,” Mr. Pessina said.

Mr. Curtis recently summed up his approach to life with a line from the John Mellencamp song, “Peaceful World.”

"If you are not part of the future, then get out of the way."
