Applied Information, Inc., Celebrated for Innovative Technology
Bryan Mulligan, president and founder of Applied Information, Inc., accepted this year's Illuminations Award on behalf of his company, which belongs to the Transportation Management Systems and Associated Control Devices Section (3TS). The award is given annually to a Member of the NEMA Business Innovation Council (BIC) that demonstrates entrepreneurism and innovation.
While the core of Applied Information is transportation technology, it was created to help industries that were investing in well-intentioned practices without information based on real data that is needed to make effective investment and operations decisions. Mr. Mulligan applies those principles to connecting motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians through technology to save lives, improve traffic, drive commerce, and help the environment.
Mr. Mulligan has held leadership roles in 3TS, including section chair. Through his leadership and vision, 3TS is developing a cybersecurity Standard for products within its scope. Transportation systems were identified in the Presidential Policy Directive as a critical infrastructure sector; the Standard will define functional cybersecurity attributes and minimum performance baselines that owners and operators of critical infrastructure transportation systems can use for procurement purposes.
A self-described avid entrepreneur, Mr. Mulligan helped start other companies within Transportation Management Systems. It is because of his initiative and the innovative products and solutions that enable smart cities and safe communities that Applied Information was recognized with this year's award.
