Technical Activities
The technical activities of the NEMA 5FB.2 Section are carried out by its Technical Committee. Through a coordinated effort under the auspices of the Council for Harmonization of Electrotechnical Standards of the Nations of the Americas (CANENA) THSC 23A-62275 Cable ties, NEMA members lead the adoption of IEC 62275, Cable ties for electrical installations, as an American National Standard and a regionally harmonized standard. The Committee has developed technical communications for use by the NEMA Cable Ties Section in seating the new standard. The committee will cooperate with UL and CSA in the seamless transition of requirements for cable ties and their fixing devices from the present binational standard UL 1565/CSA C22.2 No.18.5 and the new trinational standard UL 62275/CSA C22.2 No.62275-10/NMX-J-623-ANCE-2010.
In 2012, the Technical Committee will also provide technical input into the U.S. National Committee to the IEC on the maintenance of IEC 62275 and promote global adoption of this standard.
New North American Standard
The first edition of trinationally harmonized UL 62275/CSA C22.2 No. 62275-10/NMX-J-623-ANCE-2010, Cable ties for electrical installations, was published on February 26, 2010. The standard is now in effect but will not completely replace the present requirements for cable ties in binational standard UL 1565/CSA C22.2 No.18.5 Positioning Devices until February 26, 2013. During the three year transition period, specifiers and users of cable ties will begin to notice some changes in the product classifications and package markings. Here is "What you need to know NOW"
