Edison Awards Announces Call for Nominations

2010 Edison Award Winner for Best New Product.2010 Edison Best New Product Awards and New Edison Green Award to Recognize Excellence in Innovation

The Edison Awards is accepting nominations through December 11, 2009 via its website for the 2010 Edison Best New Product Awards and Edison Green Award.

The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), the most prolific inventor and innovator in U.S. history.  Edison received 1,093 U.S. patents and 1,293 international patents during his lifetime.  The awards, honor excellence in new product development, design, marketing, and innovation.

"New products are the life blood of the U.S. economy.  This year, the Edison Awards Steering Committee expects to receive nominations for game-changing products and services that will help drive growth and value creation in our innovation economy," said Sarah Miller Caldicott, chairperson of the Edison Awards Steering Committee.

"The Edison Awards have recognized environmentally friendly products since 1987, and we're very excited this year to begin recognizing organizations that are at the leading edge of Green Technologies with the Edison Green Award.  The Edison Green Award reflects the new thinking around socially responsible growth and reducing carbon footprints for organizations as well as entire communities across the world today," Caldicott added.

The Edison Awards are known globally for recognizing and honoring innovation and excellence in the design, marketing, and launch of new products.  The awards symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Alva Edison, while also strengthening America's drive to remain at the forefront of innovation, creativity, and ingenuity in the global economy.

Edison Best New Products Award:

The 10 categories recognized by the Edison Best New Product Awards include:  Consumer Packaged Goods, Science & Medical; Lifestyle & Social Impact; Energy & Sustainability; Technology; Industrial Design; Living, Working & Learning Environments; Media & Visual Communications; Transportation; and Electronics & Computers.

Edison Green Award:

With green technologies and sustainable solutions playing a large role in the redevelopment of Main Street, the Edison Green Award recognizes an organization's commitment to developing sustainable solutions and green business models.  The Edison Green Award will be used as a platform to identify efforts to reduce the community's carbon footprint, create green collar jobs through new methods of innovation and improve community health, and self-sufficiency.

Nominations are open now through December 11, 2009.   The Edison Awards Steering Committee encourages all organizations to nominate new products and services at http://EdisonAwards.com.

Edison Best New Product Award winners will have access to display rights for The Edison Awards Seal, which studies have shown significantly increases product awareness and differentiation in today’s diverse selling environments.
