IDEA and Trade Services Part Ways
Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA) President Bob Gaylord reported to shareholders (NEMA and the National Association of Electrical Distributors) that he and the president of Trade Services have agreed it was time to end their 10-year data-sharing agreement. 29/07/08

The Rhode Island Building Code Standards Committee voted to adopt the 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC) with a new child safety precaution included. 28/07/08

State Building Code Council Adopts New Child Electrical Safety Requirement
The North Carolina State Building Code Council voted to adopt the 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC) with its tamper-resistant outlet requirement included, and, after more than three months, the requirement has taken effect. 28/07/08

Minnesota Board of Electricity Adopts 2008 National Electrical Code® without Amendments
The Minnesota Board of Electricity voted to adopt the 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC) with a new child safety precaution included. NEC Section 406.11 states that all 125-volt 15- and 20-ampere electrical outlets (receptacles) in new residential construction must be tamper-resistant receptacles. 28/07/08

Georgia Officials Say "No" to Better Child Electrical Safety
After building and legislative officials in nearly 20 states embraced the 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC) and its tamper-resistant outlet requirement, the Georgia State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) turned its back on better child electrical safety. 28/07/08

General Cable Acquires Majority Position in Philippine Joint Venture
General Cable Corporation has increased its equity ownership in Phelps Dodge Philippines, Inc. (PDP) from 40 percent to 60 percent. PDP is a joint venture established in 1955 by Anscor, a Philippine public holding company with diverse investments, and Phelps Dodge International Corporation (PDIC), a subsidiary of General Cable, which was acquired in the fourth quarter of 2007. 23/07/08



3M Names Meline Corporate Controller and CAO
