Senate Passes Medicare Act
On July 9, the Senate passed the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (HR 6331), which cancels a 10.6 percent pay cut in Medicare reimbursements that were scheduled to take effect this month. The legislation also provides for accreditation of imaging providers. 14/07/08

AREVA Wins Portion of Hanford Tank Operations Contract
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a contract to Washington River Protection Solutions (WPRS), LLC, of which AREVA Federal Services is the dedicated subcontractor, to manage the remediation of DOE’s radioactive and hazardous underground waste tanks located at the Hanford, Washington, site. 10/07/08

ABB Wins $74-Million Power Order in India
ABB has won orders worth $74 million to provide power equipment for JSW Energy to maximize the reliability and efficiency of a new power plant in Ratnagiri, in the state of Maharashtra, in western India. 10/0708

AREVA Awarded Service Contracts for Angra 1 and 2 Nuclear Power Plants
AREVA has been awarded six contracts totaling more than 45 million euros by Brazilian utility Eletronuclear to carry out extensive service works on the Angra 1 and 2 nuclear power plants. 08/07/08

Largest Solar-Powered Rice Mill in U.S. Chooses Mitsubishi Electric PV Modules
Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc., the parent company of Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. and Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., has provided more than 5,500 photovoltaic (PV) modules for a one-megawatt solar electric system at Far West Rice Mills in Nelson, Calif. The system is expected to deliver 1,440,000 kWh a year—approximately 75 percent of the plant’s total energy needs. 03/07/08
