Three States Adopt 2008 NEC®
In the past few weeks, three states, Wyoming, Kentucky, and Colorado, have adopted the 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC). The new Code includes important safety provisions, including the use of arc-fault circuit interrupters (AFCI) and tamper-resistant outlets for receptacles. 06/02/08

DOE Awards Nuclear Recycling Contract Extension to AREVA and Mitsubishi Alliance
The International Nuclear Recycling Alliance (INRA), led by AREVA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and including Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited, URS Washington Division, The Babcock and Wilcox Company, and Battelle, signed an agreement with the Department of Energy (DOE) extending its October 2007 nuclear waste management contract. 28/05/08

Siemens Wins $245 Million Order from U.S. Postal Service for 550 Mail Sorting Systems
Siemens has been awarded a $245-million contract from the United States Postal Service (USPS) for 550 Advanced Facer Canceller Systems (AFCS) 200 to replace and modernize its existing fleet of AFCS. 28/05/08

General Cable Enters Joint Venture in Algeria
General Cable Corporation, a leading global supplier of wire and cable products for the energy, industrial, and communications markets, announced today that it has entered a joint venture for majority ownership of E.P.E / EN.I.CA.BISKRA/SPA (Enica Biskra), an Algerian state-owned manufacturer of low and medium-voltage power and construction cable. 27/05/08

Siemens to Supply Power Plant Components for South Korea
Siemens Energy has been awarded an order to supply key components for units five and six of the POSCO Power combined-cycle power plant in South Korea. POSCO Power Corporation, the end user, is the largest Korean independent power producer. 23/05/08
