NEMA Applauds Introduction of the
Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Act

Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN) and George Voinovich (R-OH) recently introduced "The Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Act" in the U.S. Senate. Their bill seeks to ensure continued improvement in domestic interagency coordination, as well as international coordination among nations committed to fair trade and shutting down counterfeiting and piracy networks.

"Counterfeiting in electrical products is on the rise and represents a growing public safety concern in addition to sales lost to the criminal enterprises that finance piracy and counterfeiting," said NEMA President Evan Gaddis. "More often than not, the counterfeit electrical product is a substandard product and an unsafe product. This is well documented."
