Landis+Gyr announced the shipment of its 2 millionth Focus® AX smart meter. Landis+Gyr provides the Focus AX meter to numerous utilities across the country that are actively engaged in smart metering programs. PG&E, Pepco Holdings (PHI), Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Oncor, AEP Texas, and many others have selected the Landis+Gyr Focus meter to bring advanced functionality to energy consumers.
“Market recognition of the Focus AX meter has been tremendous,” said Jerry Figurilli, senior vice president and general manager of Landis+Gyr’s Energy Measurement Products division. “We are proud of the performance and acceptance of this meter, which has become the ‘gold standard’ in the industry.”
With an optional service switch integrated into the meter base, utilities can take advantage of the 200-amp relay to connect power or limit service remotely using an advanced metering communications system or manually at the meter.
A single circuit board design, mounted at the front of the meter, allows room for modular advanced metering communications devices to be integrated. Fewer parts and connectors throughout the board design increase reliability and contribute to better overall endpoint performance. Highly accurate load performance and the use of a field-proven digital multiplication measurement technique ensure reliability and dependability during the entire life of the Focus AX meter.
