Landis+Gyr Appoints Heath Thompson to Role of Chief Technology Officer

Landis+Gyr announced the appointment of Heath Thompson to the role of vice president and CTO, North America. Thompson has more than 26 years of experience leading software development organizations, delivering advanced software and security products, helping companies develop technical strategy, instituting best practices for software and security product design, and building development and delivery organizations for products and services.

 

Thompson joins Landis+Gyr's North American Executive team, reporting directly to Richard Mora, CEO of Landis+Gyr North America. Mora stated, "Heath will play a vital role as we continue to strengthen and secure our Smart Grid technology. His extensive experience in product development, coupled with his deep knowledge of security systems, makes him an excellent addition to our executive team."

 

Thompson said, "It is an exciting time to be joining Landis+Gyr. There is great opportunity in the energy management and utilities space. I'm excited to offer my systems and software experience to this industry, and I look forward to bringing real value and new products to our customers and energy consumers across the country."

 

Prior to joining Landis+Gyr, Thompson ran the global development organization for Internet Security Systems (ISS), which was acquired by IBM in 2006. With ISS, and then IBM, Thompson was a key member of the strategy team, oversaw development for all functional areas of products and services for IBM ISS, and managed the X-Force Advanced R&D team. During his tenure at ISS and IBM, Thompson launched the Proventia family of security products, built up India development operations for the company in six months, and helped drive the integration of ISS within IBM, including portfolio integration with other IBM brands, such as Rational, Tivoli, and Lotus.
