Phelps Dodge Promotes Faur to Vice President, Corporate Communications

Phelps Dodge Corp. has promoted Peter J. Faur to the position of vice president, corporate communications, the company has announced. Faur, 54, is responsible for the company's external and internal communications programs. He will continue to report to David L. Pulatie, senior vice president-human resources.

Faur joined Phelps Dodge in 2002 as director, corporate communications. Previously, he worked both in corporate and agency public relations positions for Mallinckrodt Inc., Fleishman-Hillard Inc., and SBC Communications. He also was a reporter and editor with the St. Louis Globe-Democrat.

Faur holds a bachelor's degree in education from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois; a master's degree in journalism from Kansas State University; and master's degrees in business administration and management from Fontbonne University in St. Louis.
