Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company (PCEC) is the recipient of a philanthropy award in arts in education, recognizing its various outreach programs sponsored throughout New Jersey. The award was presented by the Community Foundation of New Jersey.

The foundation each year honors companies in the state for their philanthropic programs and commitment to meeting the needs of the people of New Jersey. The foundation judges consist of corporate executives representing companies that won in previous years, as well as members from the non-profit community. Applicants are evaluated in four categories: social welfare, education, health and environment, and the arts.

Panasonic sponsors a variety of programs designed to meet the diverse needs of communities in New Jersey.

This is the 12th year that PCEC has been honored for its community outreach efforts. Panasonic received a $5,000 award, which was subsequently donated to Arts Power and the Jersey City Museum with whom they work.

"Everything that Panasonic does in the areas of community outreach makes a difference to someone," says Martin Kono, president and chief operating officer of Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. "Whether it's one student, a school, nursing home, hospital, orphanage, disability group, theater, or a minority group, making a difference is why we are involved. We are proud to once again be honored by the Community Foundation of New Jersey."
