Iteris, Inc. recently announced that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is entering into a contract with Iteris for approximately $3 million for the second phase of a program that will systematically replace all of the existing traffic signal controllers in the state with the new 2070/ATC controllers using unified firmware and central system software. This program is well on its way as GDOT, with support of the Iteris team, has already implemented over 800 controllers in the state under an ongoing effort.
Under this contract, Iteris will support GDOT with technical and administrative support necessary to successfully complete this program for the next two years. Iteris and its team members have been involved in this effort from its inception, beginning with the specifications development, procurements, training,
technical support, and implementation support.
Carla W. Holmes, state traffic operations engineer of GDOT, said: "The Georgia Department of Transportation has embarked on an ambitious and challenging effort to improve traffic signal operations across the entire state. The advanced transportation controller implementation program is designed to migrate Georgia from multiple traffic control systems to a uniform technology with broad flexible capabilities and new industry standards. When completed, every traffic signal in Georgia will have the same overall control system. GDOT has chosen Iteris, previously selected as the transition team for the early deployment phase of this work, as its program manager. The Iteris team demonstrated an innovative, insightful, and cost-effective approach to this work, which we believe will lead to the successful completion of this program."
