International Trade

NEMA Government Affairs monitors, analyses and advocates on U.S. and international trade policy, regulatory or other market access issues and developments of interest to NEMA members. Such issues include bilateral, regional and global free trade  negotiations to eliminate customs tariffs, reduce non-tariff barriers, and generally open markets for commerce in  products within NEMA's scope. Non-tariff barriers such as  technical or environmental regulations as well as foreign and domestic government procurement rules also pose challenges to competitive market access. The U.S. electroindustry exported over $30 billion of products and equipment in 2005.
