EHS Council Committees and Strategic Plan

The NEMA's Environment, Health and Safety Council addresses horizontal issues overlapping a number of sections and present webinars and workshops/seminars of horizontal concerns to members.

Strategic Plan of the EHS Council

Goals

To support the competitiveness of member companies as related to environmental, health and safety and other risk related issues

Mission Statement

  • To inform and advise NEMA membership about environmental, health and safety legislative, regulatory and related social trends and developments that can broadly affect business and products.
  • To maintain technical knowledge and develop associations with technical, legal, trade association and other company resources and experts and regulators.
  • To recommend and provide direction for NEMA actions with respect to environmental, health and safety matters with various local, national, and international government agencies.
  • To track working committee activities of the product Section groups and to communicate with them as appropriate.

Objectives

  • Develop effective communication methods to keep NEMA members informed of legislative and regulatory environmental, health and safety issues that affect their products and operations.
  • Assess the effect on member products and operations of government environmental, health and safety policies and existing and proposed regulations.
  • Determine priorities and recommendations to address member concerns and actions and to present to legislative and regulatory bodies an effective NEMA position on proposed environmental, health and safety legislation and regulation. This includes developing coalitions with other industry associations and mobilizing individual membership support for making these positions known to appropriate government organizations.
  • Identify and share best practices among NEMA members to improve the environmental, health and safety stewardship of the electrical manufacturing industry and their products.
