Code Alert: West Virginia, 19 April 2010

The Governor of West Virginia approved the adoption of the 2008 NEC without amendment with an adoption date of July 1, 2010. This adoption will further enhance electrical & fire safety with the expansion of Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupters 210.12(b) (AFCI) throughout the home and the added safety provision of Tamper Resistant Receptacles 406.11 to protect children from electrical shock.

The State of West Virginia should be applauded for their leadership in fire and electrical safety to ensure the citizens in their state have the same protection from electrical hazards as the rest of the country.
