The Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC) has opened the rulemaking process to adopt the 2015 Edition of the International Residential Code® as well as make corrections to the 2015 Edition of the International Fuel Gas Code® and the 2014 Edition of the National Electrical Code®.

The OUBCC has also created rules to support the legislative mandate given to the OUBCC to provide continuing education to inspectors throughout the State of Oklahoma. Notices of Rulemaking Intent (NRI's) have been submitted to the Office of Administrative Rules. These NRI's are scheduled to be published in the Oklahoma Register on January 15, 2016. They announce the OUBCC's intent to publish rules and provide for a 30-day public comment period and public hearing. The public comment period is scheduled to begin on January 16, 2015 and will end on February 18, 2016. A public hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 23, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.

Finally, the OUBCC has begun reviewing and developing the requirements for Alternative Fuel fueling stations in the State of Oklahoma. An Alternative Fuels Program Technical Committee of volunteers has been established to review the code and state requirements for CNG, LNG, LP Gas, Hydrogen and Electrical fueling stations for both commercial and residential locations.
The technical committee will review the 2015 Editions of the IFC®, IFGC® and 2014 Edition of the NEC® along with several NFPA standards dealing with Alternative Fuel fueling stations and will make recommendations to the OUBCC to modify various portions of the of the IFC®, IFGC® and the NEC® to meet the needs of the industry.
