In 1998, the NEMA Board of Governors established NEMA PAC for the express purpose of supporting individuals for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives representing the public policy values of the Association and its members addressing energy, environment, trade, anti-counterfeiting, tax, healthcare, and other electrical industry issues.
NEMA PAC is administered by the NEMA PAC Board of Governors, who determine which candidates to support based on the following criteria:
- the candidate has agenda that supports electrical industry issues
- the candidate is in a close race
- the candidate represents a constituency with an electrical industry presence.
NEMA PAC collects and makes contributions or other expenditures for the purpose of furthering the candidacies of such persons, in accordance with the Federal Election Campaign Act and other applicable laws.
